Holiday Drinks That Will Rest ye Merry Gentlemen or Rock You Around the Christmas Tree

With Christmas just around the corner we are all stressed to the max trying to get prepared for all that the holidays entail! Sleep is something that literally just seems like a fleeting dream. However, we would love to share a few relaxing holiday evening drinks to help you wind down and snooze in your cozy 4Sleep bed, or if you’re throwing a holiday party, to liven things up!

So, you’ve had a rough day trying to find the right presents, the kids are driving you crazy asking when Santa is coming (seriously it is only a few weeks away) and you’re preparing for the imminent arrival of your favorite holiday guests. Well you need to stop, breath, and fix yourself a Kahlua Hot Chocolate, curl up in bed and just relax.

Kahlua Hot Chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Dutch-processed unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 ounce Kahlúa coffee liqueur
  • Mini marshmallows, for serving
  • Salted caramel, for serving
  • Chocolate syrup, for serving

 
Directions:

In a medium saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon and nutmeg over medium heat until heated through, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in Kahlúa.

Serve immediately, garnished with mini marshmallows, salted caramel and chocolate syrup, if desired.

Spiced Hot Toddy with OJ and Honey

Or, if you are fighting a cold why not try a Spiced Hot Toddy with OJ and honey! There is nothing like going back to the basics when it comes to a nightcap.

  • 1/4 ounces of pure honey
  • 6 ounces of hot fresh brewed chai tea
  • 1 1/2 ounces of premium whiskey (Maker’s Mark is very good)
  • 1/2 ounces of fresh OJ
  • 1 orange twist
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Directions: 

Put honey in the bottom of a warmed mug. Stir in the hot chai tea with the cinnamon stick until honey is dissolved. Stir in whiskey and fresh OJ with the cinnamon stick. Garnish with orange twist and cinnamon stick. Enjoy!

Red Nose Punch

Now for you those of you who are looking to stay up all night let’s try something a little more on the wild side.  How about a big bowl of Red Nose Punch!  That’s right, who says that beer and liquor don’t go together.  With this bourbon and beer holiday mix everyone will be sure to have a good story to tell the next day!

  • 28 oz. cranberry juice
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 8 oz. bourbon
  • 4 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 3 oz. cinnamon-infused simple syrup
  • 4 (12-oz.) bottles lager beer
  • 3 limes, sliced 

Directions: 

Place cranberries in a bundt pan and pour over 4 cups hot water; freeze until set (the hot water will freeze clear), about 2 hours. Combine juices, bourbon, and syrup in a large punch bowl; stir to combine. Unmold frozen ice ring and float in punch; top with beer and sliced limes.

 Cherry Pepper Martini

However if you’re looking for something a bit more sophisticated but still want to keep things spicy then break open the Pepper Vodka add a hot cherry pepper and you won’t have to wait long for things to start heating up!

  • 1 ounce Absolut Pepper Vodka or other pepper infused vodka
  • A few drops of grenadine
  • Juice of 1/2 lime

Directions:

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a lime slice or a hot pepper.

Hot Caramel Apple Cider

And for those of you who just want to curl up with something warm and toasty sans the alcohol then this Hot Caramel Apple Cider will definitely do the trick. Get ready to take the weight of the holidays off of your shoulders and climb into bed with this comfy and cozy drink.

  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider
  • Whipped cream
  • 1 tablespoon caramel topping

Directions:

Warm1 1/2 cups of fresh cider on the stovetop until just before boiling. Pour it into a heatproof glass and swirl in just a small teaspoon of caramel. Then top the cider with a dollop of whipped cream and drizzle a little more caramel on top. Enjoy!
